POLICE REFORM BILL SENT TO GOVERNOR FOR SIGNING

It is anticipated that HB3653, the sweeping police reform bill passed by the 101st Illinois General Assembly on January 13, 2021 and sent to the Governor on February 4th, will be signed into law.


This legislation includes, among other things, ending cash bail, new ‘Use of Force’ standards and expanded ‘Use of Force’ training, officer body camera mandate, and maintaining police conduct records … as well as a myriad of effective dates.
