Announcement of a new interactive Connect Illinois Broadband Map and the creation of the Illinois Broadband Lab was made on October 7, 2021, by Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Office of Broadband.

The function of the 'Illinois Broadband Lab' is to host maps, drive research and evaluation, and promote ongoing regional engagement and program integration.
