From the Illinois Broadband Connections Newsletter

Recently, the Illinois Office of Broadband published an updated Project Area Selection Tool reflecting the 137 preliminarily awarded projects covering 57% of the state — or ~94K locations — with fiber, supported by a match of ~$551M in private funding.

Wave 2 is now open for applications to cover the remaining ~72K locations, and will score proposals from all Reliable Broadband Technologies, including fiber, fixed wireless, and more.
