Announcement of UCCI Executive Director's Retirement

7/1/2022

A message from President Meyer:

Over 40 years ago, Mike McCreery assumed the role of Executive Director of the United Counties Council of Illinois.  Under his watch, Mike has grown the organization into the premiere statewide association of county board members that it is today.  It was under Mike's tutelage that a partnership with the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust was forged, solidifying UCCI's financial health and affording all of the important resources to its members at little to no cost to the counties.  Mike was also responsible for raising UCCI's profile nationally within the National Association of Counties (NACo).

Mike has been a tireless advocate for local government issues for decades and retired on June 30, 2022.

The UCCI Executive Committee has unanimously approved Ryan McCreery to be Executive Director upon Mike's retirement.  Ryan has over 20 years of experience in local government issues, both in Illinois and at the national level, and is well-prepared to lead UCCI upon becoming Executive Director on July 1, 2022.

Please join me in thanking Mike on his storied career and congratulating him on his retirement!

National Association of Counties (NACo) publication 'County News' (August 15th edition) features retirement story.
