NEWS STORY UPDATE: Vaccination Requirements Deadline Extended ... COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements & Mask Mandate Announced by Governor Pritzker

NEWS UPDATE (September 3, 2021) ... Governor and IDPH Director announce a two-week extension of vaccination requirements for individuals in high-risk settings.  The extended deadline came at the request of hospital and school leaders.

On August 26, 2021, as Illinois' COVID-19 cases and hospitalization rates continue to climb at a rapid and steady pace, Governor Pritzker and Illinois Department of Public Health officials announced a statewide indoor mask mandate for all Illinois residents (over the age of two), regardless of vaccination status, effective Monday, August 30th. 

In addition, in an effort to slow the spread of the Delta variant, the Governor announced that all healthcare workers (including nursing home employees), all PreK-12 teachers & staff, and higher education personnel & students will now be required to received the COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 testing requirements, as determined by IDPH and ISBE, will be in place for those who are unable or unwilling to receive the vaccine.
